Thumbnails and Pencils

Hey all, I'm going to be posting my thumbnail sketches for Billy the Dunce in this thread. Hopefully it's at least sort of interesting.

I do most of my thumbnailing in photoshop these days, using the trusty Wacom. It's fast, and it allows me to work around the actual text I'll be using in the strip, so I can play with it's placement and maximize the real estate I have to work with.

I like to do my penciling using red lead for the underdrawing, and then bringing out the detail with blue lead. It's nice because the blue shows up very nicely on a lightbox, and the red doesn't. Also, it's much less smeary than graphite. Being left-handed that's a pretty big thing for me.
